COUNTRYSIDE LEADER AWARD.
The Countryside Leader Award (CLA) is for adults who wish to lead walks and camping expeditions in non-remote, lowland countryside.
Many types of walk and camping trip fall within the scope of the CLA. If you would like to use it for DofE expeditions, the scope corresponds with the recommended bronze and silver expedition terrain.
Our entry requirements allow us to recognise the prior experience of those who register with the CLA, and the course is designed with this in mind.
You will need to register with the Countryside Leader Award at http://www.countrysideleaderaward.org/register/. This costs £35.00 and is payable directly to CLA.
Your log book needs to be brought to the training/assessment courses.
Once registered with the scheme, please book onto a training course by emailing the form to email@example.com. Please also fill in the self assessment form and include it with your booking form
The training course is 3 days, which is normally split into an Orientation Day and a 2 day expedition. Full details are available here
After training there is a period of consolation, this will vary from candidate to candidate and will be discussed fully with each person during the debrief after the training course.
Assessment takes the form of a two-night lightweight and self-sufficient camping expedition. Your assessor may send you a home exam paper in advance.
You should bring your logbook with you, containing:
